Shining Stars Adapted Dance Camp takes place each year in August at the Diane Matthews School of Dance Arts in West Chester. The camp is for boys and girls with physical disabilities who love to dance and is sponsored by donations from friends and family throughout the community. Donations are made through the Samantha Zajac Memorial Fund, which allows all of the Dancers to participate free of charge. Many Adapted Physical educators and dance instructors help to staff the event each summer. All dancers are paired with a personal coach to ensure safety and provide assistance with movements and instruction. Dancers practice all week for a special event, in which they perform for family and friends on the last day of camp.
