6. A quick word of advice for future adapted minors or for parents looking for an adapted PE professional.

Get what you can get out of it and appreciate all the work Doc puts into it. There is NO ONE like her. You will never meet someone like Doc again so gain as much experience as you can in your 3-5 years at WCU. Never get discouraged, the kids are happy as hell to be there with you, leave your problems at the door because they have way worse problems.

3. How has the minor affected you?

The WCU APE minor has adversely changed the person I am. Through this minor I have found my calling in teaching and a purpose for what I do. Doc Lepore has been the biggest influence on my life next to my parents. She has shown me what it means to have patience, compassion, and love for what she does, and to always see the best in everyone and everything. I will forever be grateful for my time at WCU and for the people I have met through this minor who have made me a better person. Thank you.

I learned so much from each and every athlete that was involved in the program. After joining the minor, my life has changed completely and I have participated in and traveled to places I would never have thought about before to work with the athletes. I found out that I wasn't the teacher, I was the student. The athletes taught me more than I could ever teach them.
